Description
weight Capture & Examination Validation¶
I recommend adding this as a separate feature rather than hiding weight inside the examination-marker framework.
This is important because weight is a hard clinical rule in V3: a consultation cannot be completed without a weight recorded today.
US-002-01-04-01 — Record Today's Weight¶
US-002-01-04-01-FE — Frontend¶
User Story
As a veterinarian, I want to record today's animal weight so that the consultation can use a current weight rather than an old or estimated value.
Frontend Requirements¶
The weight screen shall:
- Display current patient's identity.
- Display today's weight if already recorded.
- Allow weight entry through numeric input.
- Display unit as kg.
- Clearly distinguish today's weight from previous weight.
- Show previous weight where available.
- Show warning when weight is unusual for the species.
- Show warning when weight differs by more than 30% from the previous weight.
- Prevent completion of consultation without today's weight.
The V3 requirement says the unusual-weight and >30% difference conditions should show an amber warning but should not block the doctor.
Acceptance Criteria¶
AC-01
If today's weight has not been recorded, consultation completion is blocked.
AC-02
If today's weight exists, the weight requirement is satisfied.
AC-03
If weight differs by more than 30% from the previous weight, an amber warning is displayed.
AC-04
The warning does not prevent the doctor from continuing.
AC-05
The system does not allow the doctor to bypass the requirement by entering an estimate.
AC-06
A weight recorded by the desk before consultation is available when the doctor opens the consultation.
Out of Scope¶
- Automatic weight estimation.
- Weight prediction.
- Medical diagnosis from weight.
- Automatic dose calculation in this feature.
US-002-01-04-01-BE — Backend¶
Backend shall:
- Store today's weight.
- Associate weight with patient.
- Associate weight with consultation/visit.
- Store unit.
- Store timestamp.
- Store user who recorded the weight.
- Retrieve previous weight.
- Calculate percentage difference.
- Determine whether consultation weight requirement is satisfied.
- Return species-weight warning information.
Acceptance Criteria¶
AC-01
A valid weight is stored against the correct patient.
AC-02
Today's weight can satisfy the consultation requirement.
AC-03
Previous weight can be retrieved.
AC-04
A difference greater than 30% generates a warning state.
AC-05
Warning state does not automatically reject the weight.
AC-06
Consultation completion API rejects completion when today's required weight is missing.
Important Open Decision¶
The walkthrough asks whether anyone other than the veterinarian may change weight after the consultation has been opened. The current build position is veterinarian only, but the final business decision is still recorded as an open question.
